The On the Fly Jasper Swag Dog Walking Bag remains my favourite of the dog bags. I made some updates to the bag to make it even better. The side pockets have been improved so that they are larger and now both will hold a good sized water bottle. Also, one of the pockets is collapsible and foldable so you can hide it away when not in use. Other than that, all other features are much the same.
When it comes to envisioning the ideal dog walking bag, the On the Fly Jasper Swag Dog WalkingBag really hits the bulls eye. Not only is it loaded with features, it is comfortable to wear and it looks great. A friend of mine saw it and commented, it isn't just a nice dog walking bag, it is a nice everything bag. I admit, I'm quite in love with it.
It is made from waterproof nylon and while the bag is not waterproof it is very water repellent. I held the bag under the tap for a good minute with a full stream of water and only at the very end of the time could you start to see some seepage through the seams. After leaving it sit for a few minutes, I checked the interior and it was all dry. I would expect this bag to keep your contents dry in most rainy conditions.
When I first received the bag my first thought was too many zippers. There were zippers everywhere and I planned on taking them all out. Then I used the bag and discovered I liked the zippers. They were not in my way and they held my contents secure so I didn't have to worry about losing my keys or sunglasses.
I had planned on using the front flap pocket to hold treats and if I were using the bag during a training session, that is exactly what I would do. Using the bag day to day and on walks, I have found I use the front pocket for keys and my sunglasses. It is convenient to reach in and grab my keys and sunglasses without having to dig for them.
I use the front zipper pocket for my phone. It is easy to reach in and pull out and the zipper keeps is safe from falling out. I also like that it is protected so I don't have to worry about it getting cracked or broken.
The back zipper pocket is great for holding dog waste bags and kleenex. What I've discovered though is that this pocket is large enough to hold a phone and the dog waste portal can double as a headphone jack. You could easily carry your phone in the back pocket and feed your headphones through the portal. Just an added bonus!
The interior of the bag is just the right size. I have no problem holding my wallet, a ball, cheque book, keys and more. While walking today I also had the leash and two bags of dog waste stored inside. It all fit and the bag was not too heavy or uncomfortable to wear. The On the Fly Jasper Swag Dog Walking Bag is quite a structured bag. It holds its shape. It does not stretch. Once it is full, it is full. This can be good and bad depending on the scenario.
The side mesh pocket easily holds a tennis ball and a ball launcher. I love this because once the ball is dirty I do not want to store it inside the bag. I like to be able to hook the ball launcher on to the bag so that Jasper knows the ball has been put away and it is not time to play. A water bottle easily slides in as could an umbrella or a flashlight. You could easily attach other things to the bag through the straps or by clipping on to the D-ring of the shoulder straps.
The On the Fly Jasper Swag Bag can be worn two ways. Across the body as a cross body bag or around the waist. It comes with two straps so you can choose how you want to wear the bag on a given day. If for some reason, the waist strap does not work for you, a belt could be used instead. I've worn it both ways and found it quite comfortable. I'm not a fan of a waist bag per se but could wear this bag as a waist bag without issue.
For me, the On the Fly Jasper Swag Bag fulfills every need I have in a dog walking bag. I am extremely pleased with the quality, construction and structure of the bag. It feels like it will stand up to wear and tear, it stands up to rain and it looks good. The On the Fly Swag Bag makes me happy.
